Programming the software to calculate lifelines

The task consist on the development of a software to calculate the anchor lines flexibles and horizontals made with steel wires of MultiGarBen brand. The software consist on the insertion of several inputs in order to get the necessary wire stress, the vertical displacement when the user is working and the minimum free distance to the floor, i.e. the necessary height to halt the slide with safely.

Regarding the input variables, firstly, the information about the geometry of the system, both the boundary conditions as the cables sizes, has to be inserted. Then, the user introduces the calculation variables: number of spans of the line (single or multiple), number of dampers (0, 1 or 2) and number of concurrent users (1,2 or 3). The data of falling is determined by the last variable that generates statics and/or dynamics forces depending the number of users. When the different calculation variables are combined there are 18 situations, for which type templates has been created.

The spanish regulations that have been used to programe the software are the followings:

  • UNE-EN 795-2012.
  • UNE-EN 355-2002.
  • UNE-EN 364-1993.
