Restudy of the protection slope in the Valle del Gran Rey, La Gomera (Gran Canaria)
In order to define an alternative solution regarding the original design of the slope protection in the Valle del Gran Rey beach (La Gomera) this restudy is elaborated. The main goal is to reduce the economic cost of the execution of the works, while the technical and functional criteria are fulfilled.
The chosen solution consist on a slope of 1:1 with a revetment of gabions with a layer thickness of 1 meter (or well placed riprap of 3 tons) supported by a riprap filter of 250-300 kg and a core made of quarry run of between 0 and 100 kg. Finally, a riprap protection of 1 ton is added in the toe of the slope in order to avoid the scour.
